Your most cost-effective repair is often the one you make before a pothole forms.
Cracks give stormwater a direct path beneath the asphalt. Once moisture destabilizes the base, repeated vehicle loads flex the unsupported surface until it breaks apart. Crack sealing closes that path while the pavement is still structurally repairable.
How hot-pour crack sealing works
- Inspect and clean: remove loose material, vegetation, and moisture from the crack.
- Route when needed: widen severe cracks to create a consistent reservoir for sealant.
- Heat and place: apply commercial rubberized material at the manufacturer’s working temperature.
- Strike off and protect: finish the band and keep traffic off the repair until the material has set.
Crack sealing is commonly paired with sealcoating so water-entry points are addressed before the surface protection goes down.
